IU – eight (Prod.&Feat. SUGA of BTS) Explained by a Korean

This is an subjective/alternative explanation & theory of IU’s ‘eight’ music video. There is no intention of disrespecting Sulli, Hara and Jonghyun, but rather tries to spread more awareness against hate comments, by trying to understand the pain and message that might underlie in this MV. If by any chance ads appeared on this video, it is not our intention. 1. This is an subjective/alternative explanation & theory of IU's 'eight' music video. There is no intention of disrespecting Sulli, Hara and Jonghyun, but rather tries to spread more awareness against hate comments, by trying to understand the pain and message that might underlie in this MV. 2. 😭😭😭Are you happy now???haters..😭if only all of them could live a happy and peaceful life. This world has really become so cruel

  3. In the plane scene when Suga started rapping and then the lighting hits, there was a blurred image on the phone. Was that IU?

  4. I am not Korean and I am rarely looking to the lyric of KPOP EXCEPT if it is IU song. Most KPOP song has very addicted rhythm and chorus but IU song has very beautiful and meaningful lyric. I can grasp some of the meaning but thanks for your detailed interpretation it become more extraordinary. Please keep up the good work.

  5. I definitely agree that this song may be about IU’s emotional state and her dead friends, however I have a bit of a different theory. Instead of referring to her friends who are in heaven when she says “are you happy now” or the haters that caused their death, I think this “you” is the IU of the future. IU at 28 is in a bad emotional state, she has lost everything and is suffering, she’s telling all this to “you”, IU of the near future in hopes that IU is finally happy and no longer suffering. She hopes that In the future she’ll be able to look back at the memory of being 28 without feeling sad anymore, she hopes that her pain will end and that she’ll find happiness. IU has stated in the past that she has no desire for anything expect happiness, so I think this song is a song dedicate to her future self who will hopefully achieve the pursuit of happiness written by IU of the past who is 28 years old.

  6. How sad. My tear nearly for fall down while listening to his explanation. RIP sulli, Hara , jonghyun. Be strong IU.

  7. yo..it could've been IU in the highlight reel in the magic island and this connects to bts storyline only suga's part?
    tbh I'm just guessing…

  8. At first I thought that it was a beautiful song (as per IU fashion) but now after watching this video I realised how much meaning it had and how it affected her and a lot of people… Its really saddening how I never realised this before and now it made me more aware of her situation

But I think as netizens and other people who are not the 'haters' (no offense to anyone at all) we shouldn't tell them to 'die' or 'be punished' because I'm sure by now they might have learnt their lesson and us saying that to them might cause the cycle to repeat again

May Sulli, Hara and Jonghyun rest in peace 🙏🙏🙏 and may all of us have the heart and conscience to not do that to other people as well 💪💪💪

  9. Thank you for giving us an subjective/alternative explanation and theory on what lyrics of the could possibly mean. When I first listened to the song I didn't realize how deep the lyrics could possibly be. I teared up with your explanation it touched my heart. It is scary how haters whether it be on social media or in person can affect and destroy someone's life. I was bullied all through my younger life and because of it, I don't trust people fully and keep them at a distance. I am glad there are artists standing up against the hate and bullying. Again thanks for your good work.

  10. I wonder in those long conversations IU had with her and noticed depression! If so why not contact a professional and get her friend some help? Another thing that I am questioning, IU knows how JK feels about her so why go to his group and ask another member?

  11. Thank you for filling in the parts for non-korean viewers. I just want to share that ever since I heard the song of IU, it was really sad. It felt sad despite the upbeat music. You don't know if you will dance to the beat of the song.

  12. aww I just wanna hug her.. I miss Jonghyun and Sulli so much and although I didn't stan Hara, I miss her a lot too Jonghyun was my bias in SHINee and he will always be and Sulli in Fx!! 😭😭

  13. All the points is make sense, but IU said in her YouTube channel though, writing the lyrics of eight is not so hard, which means how tf is not hard writing this lyrics with all these theories and meaning that peeps pointed out?? Except she's a genius

  14. i am happy that IU has been strong and willing to live even after going through so much for such a young age .. i hope she continues to be able to express herself through her craft whether it be acting, singing or through he lyrics 💜 i am also happy that she chose of all people Suga to produce and feat with her 💜 let's all take a moment and pray for everyone to continue fighting 💜

  15. I hope all the hater's caught that glare that I.U made at them, they need to know… "so are you happy now, finally happy now are you"…..

  16. I had to pause this video several times to hold back my tears. Still cannot process everything that happened.

  17. This song made me cry right when it started… Recently lost a friend not from the same reason but to covid and he was only 25. So It definitely hurts to listen to her lyrics.

  18. I nearly cry whenever I hear this song, it's beautiful.
Whenever I hear it, I always think back to the 'W – Two Worlds' intro. That's obliviously not a bad thing or anything, they're just so beautiful.
I know they have no link whatsoever but they're both really nice.
(I hope nobody takes this the wrong way)
